´´Joyce always said that in the human heart there was place for only one novel… and that when one writes more than one, it is the same book under different disguises.´´
Italo Sveveo quoting James Joyce

I have always drawn, painted and modelled feminine figures. I use them to represent to main subjects, Eros and Thanatos, Life and Death. I reach these subjects compulsively and intuitively, without theorizing or trying to pontificate on them.
When I made the Series “Little Figures”, I was searching images “staring” at the world, primary colours, naïf, pure icons of synthetic shapes, where I used only what I considered expressive, minimizing the anatomy for this purpose, and modifying, in some cases, its normal position. Little Fires are, and look at Life, through their breasts-eyes. On the other hand, the Series “Female Wrestlers” consists of women in tension, with twisted muscles, with more natural feminine forms, all of which inside a rebellion or fight whirl.
The Female Wrestlers are attacked, Life defends herself against Death. The Series “Female Warriors” represents Amazons on guard, wrestlers awaiting to be distended. They have an unique breast, which is also their head. In other series ,I made several Venus, the Love and Life goddess. In some cases, they are more realistic, emphasizing the figure’s sensuality and erotic profile.
In other cases, I assimilated the Greek / Latin goddess to images and myths of American pre-Columbian cultures. The Venus and the serpents and the Venus Jaguar, allow me to juxtapose opposed images of Life and death in the same character, using shapes and colours identifying them.
Finally, the Series Venus Jaguar CD, made after a trip in Mexico and Guatemala, represent the bridge between my emotions and my technological environment in face of the present condition of the Mayan people..
